What are Blueprints?
A blueprint is a type of paper-based or computer based reproduction usually of a technical drawing, documenting architecture or an engineering design.
Your Blueprint:
- Should be drawn on a blue Background
- Should use white text and drawings
- Should label and point to all components of your technology
- Must include a detailed description of how the components of your technology work to complete the problem it is designed to solve
Inspiration
Need ideas for a blueprint design? Look around your school. What could work better? What systems can you make faster, stronger, smaller, smarter or just more fun?
If you're still stuck try some of the following:
- Interviews: Ask friends or teachers about their challenges(then design a solution)
- Think about challenges during lunch
- Imagine how classrooms can be better
- Think about how to make gym class more fun
- Use your imagination!
Software
You can use whatever software you prefer or draw your Blueprint and scan it in. Here are some applications you might be able to use:

- GIMP (free, mac, pc or linux)
- Photoshop (mac or pc, not free - ask your coordinator)
- MS Paint (pc only, free)
