Our Advisory Council

The MSCA Advisory Council serves to make recommendations and/or provide key information and materials to MSCA's Program Director and team. Responsibilities include:

No Photo Janette Adams is in her 11th year as the Library Media Specialist for Union Middle School in San Jose. This is her 5th year as a MOUSE Squad faculty advisor making her one of the “old timers”. She is also a MOUSE Squad certified trainer and member of Computer Using Educators (CUE).
No Photo Edith Barr is RAFT's Educational Publications Manager.  Edith received degrees in physics from Reed College and UCSC.  Edith came to RAFT in 2007 with experience in hands-on science education including experience with MSCA and over 10 years at the NASA Ames Aerospace Encounter, a hands-on field trip for 4th-6th grade students.
No Photo Lauri Bergeron joined the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) in 1998, supporting the networks at 50 schools in the city. Next came managing the District's first Technical Support Team, moving on to State technology grant implementation and E-rate Program Coordinator. Currently, Lauri is assisting with the roll-out of collaboration/grading software Districtwide.
Gwyneth Bordon Gwyneth J. Borden is the Manager of Corporate Citizenship and Corporate Affairs, Northwestern United States for IBM. She manages IBM's corporate citizenship and philanthropic activities focusing on pre K-12 education, literacy and minority/women-owned business development. Gwyneth is also a Commissioner for the City and County of San Francisco's Planning Commission, a post she was appointed to by Mayor Gavin Newsom.
No Photo Tyler Couch is currently attending College of San Mateo. He is pursuing a Bachelors of Arts In Multimedia and Web Design. Tyler speaks some Japanese and wants to learn more. He has loved technology since the age of 5. He participated on the Aragon High School MOUSE Squad and loved all four years of it.
No Photo Gina D. Dalma serves as program officer at Silicon Valley Community Foundation. She is part of the grantmaking team that works on education and regional planning for the community foundation. Prior to the community foundation, Gina was director of innovation at the Silicon Valley Education Foundation, managing education engagement programs, community leadership groups and advocacy efforts.
Nancy Dirgo Nancy Dirgo, Founder/CEO of Red-eyed Software has over 25 years of experience in softsware/hardware development and executive leadership roles for companies: Grey Worldwide, Rackable Systems, PeopleSoft, Aetna.  Highly skilled in partnering with business leaders, management and technical teams, Nancy has an ability to establish/revitalize products, methodologies, organizational structures and teams.
Joan Green Joan Green has 35 years of experience in school communications and public relations.  She worked in Public Affairs for the University of Rochester before coming to California and serving as Public Information Officer for Foothill College for 15 years. She switched her focus to K-12 in 1998 when she joined the Communications staff at the Santa Clara County Office of Education.
No photo Bernie Luongo Hoye is a non-profit professional with expertise in strategic fundraising and marketing communications. She worked for Girl Scouts of Northern California as Senior Director Grants and Corporate Relations. Bernie has 17 years in high-technology business and marketing development and is a board member at Association of Fundraising Professionals Silicon Valley Chapter.
No Photo Charles M. Kanavel is the Director of Technology for the Campbell Union High School District. While at CUHSD, he was responsible for the development of online hybrid courses and was the first to deploy them in the California K-12 educational space. Mr. Kanavel is internationally recognized for designing and developing cutting edge software solutions for the securities industry.
Steven McGriff Steven McGriff, Ph.D., is the Teacher-in Residence at the Krause Center for Innovation at Foothill College (KCI), where he oversees curriculum development and implementation of educator professional development programs. Previously, Steve served six years as assistant professor of instructional technology in the College of Education, San Jose State University (SJSU).
No Photo Bob Miller, Advisory Council Chair, is a former Silicon Valley CEO who since 1998 he has focused on the social sector. Previous affiliations include CEO of Entrepreneurs' Foundation and board member of Options Recovery Services, Aspiranet and Tech Corps California. He currently serves on the board of the Alameda Foster Youth Alliance and chairs the Advisory Board of the Center for Nonprofit and Public Leadership at UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business.
No Photo Hilary Naylor has been consulting for nonprofits and schools in the San Francisco Bay Area for the past ten years, first as a member of CompuMentor (now TechSoup Global), and now independently. Hilary has extensive experience creating and implementing technology solutions for schools and nonprofits.
No Photo Rick Otto previously served as the Director of Information Technology for the Sequoia Union High School District and as a manager at Hewlett Packard. He is ITIL Foundations Certified, holds an MBA from San Jose State University and is a CDE/FCMAT/CETPA certified K-12 Chief Technology Officer.
Cynthia Roe Cynthia Roe is the Director of Corporate Development for WITI (Women in Technology International), a global association of professional women dedicated to the advancement of women world-wide. She has been with WITI since 1996 and is responsible for corporate partnerships and alliances. She resides in the East Bay with her husband, daughter, two dogs, cat, hamster and fish!
No Photo Ingrid Starink is a San Jose State University graduate with a BA in English Literature. She has more than 15 year's administrative experience supporting global organizations. Ingrid is currently an Executive Assistant at Ernst & Young, one of the largest professional services firms in the world. Ingrid is an enthusiastic member of Toastmasters International and the International Association for Administrative Professionals (IAAP).
No Photo Rowena Tong has taught with the San Francisco Unified School District for 14 years. She is currently the technology teacher at Marshall Elementary School and Paul Revere K-8 School and has been a MOUSE Squad Instructor/Faculty Advisor for the past 3 years.
