March MicroProject Winners!
Greetings Squad members! Here it is, the moment we’ve all been waiting for: it’s time to announce the MicroProject Winners! March's Challenge was to remix a website using Hackasaurus. Students were asked to hack a website to transform it into something new of their own! We had a ton of amazing submissions this month!
Our Grand Prize
The $60 Best Buy gift card goes to Albert Shkolnik, from S.E.T.H. L.O.W. in Brooklyn, NY! Whenever you need to settle a heated grapefruit related argument Grapefruitpedia is the most authoritative site on the internet for all grapefruit facts. Who invented that curved grapefruit knife? Why does the juice always squirt me in the eye? Find out all this and more on Grapefruitpedia! We chose this project because the idea is clever, the page looks great and it's even multilingual!
Our First Runner Up
Winner of the first runner up award for a Papertronics Lunar Module is Zoni from Grandeur in Manhattan, New York. They hacked usatoday.com and turned it into Catworld! Catworld is definitely the best cat news source around.
Check out Catworld here!
Our Second Runner Up
Also receiving a Papertronics Lunar Module for the second runner up aware is malard0 from WirelessFreedom in The Bronx, New York, who created a new social network called Mousebook. For all your rodent social networking needs, Mousebook is the place to go. Remember, you have to have a CheeseMail account to sign up.
Check out their Mousebook here!
It's always such a difficult decision voting on submissions and awarding these prizes. Thank you to Coordinators and students who participated and submitted such awesome projects! We are looking forward to seeing many more of them in the future. We hope you had fun learning about how to remix the web! For those of you who didn't get to participate, here's your chance to hack your own web page. Just visit Hackasaurus to learn more about HTML today!
Up Next: the Spring DIY Project of the Year!
Be sure to check out our awesome project for the next two months: the Spring DIY Project! Check it out here! This is your last chance to submit an awesome project for the 2011-2012 school year with your Mouse Squad. Show us what you've got!
