PlayTech Saturday For the Win!
Thank you New York City for another fantastic PlayTech Saturday!
On Saturday, April 11th, a group of eager Mouse Squad members and coordinators gathered at Parsons The New School for Design to have fun at PlayTech Saturday!
PlayTech gives Mouse Squad members the chance to test out the latest games and projects designed by graduate students at Parsons. Some games are almost finished and some are just the seeds of an idea. The feedback from Mouse Squad members helps determine the shape of these games in the future. Oh yeah...there's free pizza too!
Mouse Squads came from:
- The Hudson High School for Learning Technologies
- J.H.S. 157 Halsey
- Baruch College Campus High School
PlayTech attendees played computer games, board games, card games, console games, oculus rift games, and some games that don't fit into any category! We played a crazy mod of Battleship, tested our knowledge of geography, kept secrets from each other, tested our stress levels and moved around inside a virtual reality cube. We can't wait to see what the next version of these games will be like!
Everyone at PlayTech Saturday also got a chance to play Mouse's very own "PlayTech: The Game" in order to win a PlayTech Saturday wrist band that also doubled as a flash drive! How cool is that?!
To win a prize players had to get to know the PlayTech presenters, review their projects, and come up with an idea for their own game! Some of our favorites were:
- Strudel Dash- A game where you play as a beta fish solving logic puzzles, jumping from tank to tank trying to get to the ocean.
- Five Nights at Dr. Who- a game like Five Nights at Freddy's but Dr. Who themed, and the doctors have a virus that makes them think you are a Dalek!
- The Vs, Vs!- Historical events based on the book series I Survived. The game would put you in different historical situations where you have to save people!
