NYC: Thanks for an Awesome Spring Team Training!

Spring Team Training Recap

Spring 2012 Team Training was held on Saturday, Feb. 4th from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Hudson High School of Learning Technologies in Chelsea.

The day got started with students working on a Social Scavenger Hunt before the opening ceremonies. Students were broken up into 4 different teams: the Pink Panthers, Orange Orcas, Green Godzillas and Yellow Yaks. To win a prize, students had to complete challenges with new friends on their team including making a secret handshake, drawing a Mouse mascot and writing and performing a short rap or poem. We finished giving out the prizes during lunch time, which turned out to be a blast!

When everyone arrived, we started off with a big welcome outlining the purpose of the day and bringing up the energy level. During the Great Mousemallow Tower Challenge, we built the tallest possible freestanding tower made out of only marshmallows and pasta in order to learn the Mouse ways of taking positive risks and failing forward. After building towers Mouse students got a special address from City Council Member Robert Jackson! It was a treat to be inspired by Council Member Jackson's stories of perseverance in running his first marathon and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. He even asked students to remember to send him an invite to their graduations!

Students then split up for a schedule of 2 workshops, lunch, 2 more workshops, and a closing/raffle. Our Mouse Trainers have got these workshops down to a science and students and coordinators were both raving about how much fun they were having!

During lunchtime students not only had the opportunity to finish their Social Scavenger Hunt and collect their Mouse foam finger, but we also played a game called Mouse Roller Coaster that was loads of fun!
