Garage Robotics Specialists Program Arduino!
What single $25 dollar device will allow you to:
- create crazy robots
- build musical synthesizers
- control your digital camera through your Nintendo DS
- even create a digital camera of your own?
ARDUINO!
Check out all of the projects mentioned above and much more right here.
Last week, pilot testers for the New Garage Robotics Specialist Badge met at the ACCESS School in Manhattan to conquer part two of the G-Rob experience: Programming! Nearly 40 students and 7 Mouse Squad Coordinators programmed their Arduino to create blinking and chasing LED light arrays. Arduino is an open-source device that allows engineers, artists, and tinkerers to control circuits and sensors through a programming language. Learn a ton about Arduino in this great WikiPedia entry!
As you may already know, Garage Robotics is a pilot program where Mouse Squad Members in New York are testing new curriculum to earn a Mouse "Badge" in the basics of physical computing. (Wanna know more about Physical Computing?)
The curriculum, a step-by-step series of activities that help students learn the fundamentals of electrical and computer engineering, will launch to the Global Mouse Network next year.
Another special thanks to Angel Hernandez and Manhattan's ACCESS School for serving as the Garage Robotics Host Squad for GR's three Spring workshops.
