Unplugged Recap: Grant-Writing 101

On Thursday April 29th, MOUSE invited MOUSE Squad coordinators to our headquarters to participate in our first Grant-Writing Workshop of the year.
Grant-Writing 101 for Educators was led by MOUSE Development Director Deanah Springer-Ishmael. During this interactive workshop participants learned about the basics of grant-writing. In addition to getting the inside scoop on the Do’s and Don’ts of preparing a winning application, participants had the chance to exchange their own tips and best practices around acquiring the funding, materials, and support needed to fulfill the technology needs in the classrooms. Attendees even received applications for upcoming grant-opportunities and left feeling confident in their ability to continue discovering these resources on their own.
MOUSE was also joined by an additional guest presenter, Ms. Leeanne G-Bowley, Manager of National Training at the Foundation Center. During the workshop Leanne made a presentation in which she shared some information about the various resources available to educators through the Foundation Center. She also gave them a tutorial on navigating the vast array of features and search tools available on their website.
Congratulations are in on order for our raffle winner, Lori Stahl-Van Brackle from JHS 157Q. Lori was the lucky teacher who walked away with the chance to learn more about grant-writing over lunch with Deanah.
Grant-Writing 101 for Educators is only one of many MOUSE Squad professional development opportunities that we offer throughout the year. Be sure to keep your eyes open for other events on the Wire. If you couldn’t attend this workshop but are eager to learn more about grant-writing, you can check out a copy of the power point presentation and post your questions to the On-Line Development Forum.
